Three Catholic Church worshippers, including a Choir Master was shot dead in ambush when armed herdsmen went on rampage at the weekend in Benue State.
Sources said Tor Felafa, his son, and Francis Kulegwa, a senior choir Master of Daudu Mission in the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi is among the victims.
The brutal attack, which occurred on the outskirts of Achakpa Community along the North Bank-Lafia road.
The victims were ambushed while tending to their farmlands behind the village where an unspecified number of persons were abducted while many narrowly escaped with others unaccounted for.
Angry residents and victims family to staged a peaceful protest on Saturday, blocking the highway at the Camp Garba–Atson–Abagena IDP Camp axis.
The protesters who were bored placards and tree branches, vowed to sustain the protest justice is served.
They also accused Governor Hycinth Alia of keeping silent failing to perform his duty as Governor of Benue State.
Spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Command, DSP Udeme Edet confirmed the incident, stating that “police teams have been deployed and are on top of the situation”.
