A suspected Paedophile,
Sirajo Ali, male of Bundot area in Bundot Area, Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State has been arrested by police operatives in the State.
The 23-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with an alleged case of rape and criminal threat to life involving a 13-year-old girl in the same location.
The spokesman of the police command in the State, SP Nafiu Habib, confirmed the incident in a statement, said the suspect reportedly lured his younger sister (minor) into his room and allegedly raped her.
Habib said a 29-year-old man, of Bundot in Dass LGA, reported the incident same day at about 1030 hours at police Division, resulting to the suspect arrest.
The 13-years-old teenager and survivor informed police authority that upon getting into the room, the suspect brought out a knife and criminally threatened her, warning that he would kill her if she shouted or told anyone. Thereafter, he had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
The statement read partly: “Upon receipt of the report, detectives from the Dass Division immediately swung into action.
“The suspect was promptly arrested, and the crime scene was visited. The knife allegedly used in the commission of the crime was recovered as an exhibit.
“The case is currently under investigation at the Division and will soon be transferred to the Gender Laboratory of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Bauchi, for discreet investigation and subsequent prosecution”, he said.
Responding, Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu in Bauchi State Command, condemned the act in strong terms and reassured the public of the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice for victims of sexual violence.
He further urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities to the Police without delay.
