Atiku, Peter Obi, Kwankwaso, Mark, lead storm INEC’ head office

Date:

Leaders of African Democratic Congress, ADC, including former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, former President of Senate, David Mark and former governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola have led a peaceful protest to the national headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Abuja on Wednesday.

The protesters hinged on the alleged refusal of the electoral body to recognize the leadership of Mark and Aregbesola as national chairman and national Secretary of the party, amid ongoing leadership dispute in the party.

Other prominent figures seen in a video, are former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and a female activist, Aisha Yusuf.

Most of the protesters donned T&shirts tagged, “Operation Save Our Democracy” with red and white placards inscriptions on it.

In a post on social media, Atiku said, “Myself and other leaders of the ADC are peacefully protesting against the partisanship of the electoral umpire”.

“Our patriotic stance is aimed at safeguarding our democracy and preventing the enthronement of a dictatorship”, he said.
