Atiku, Obi won presidential election on social media, says Wike

Nysom Wike, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, has mocked Candidates of Peoples Democratic party and his Labour Party, LP counterpart, Peter Obi in the 2023 Presidential election, alleging that opposition parties won the election on social media, while President Bola Tinubu won the polls through the electorate.

Recall that Supreme Court had in a landmark judgement affirmed President Bola Tinubu as the winner of February’s presidential election, and dismissed the petitions brought by his APM, Labour Party and PDP.

Wike who made the veiled reference to the politicians at the 2nd face flag-off and resurfacing of Asokoro District in Abuja on Thursday in FCT, however did not mention the names of the two contestants, but insisted that Nigerians know the winners of the elections.

According to Wike “Nigerians must commend Tinubu’s administration, and not to make comments by telling the public lies. Just like they told us that they won when they never won. Nigerians know those who won election on social media. Tinubu won through the electorate. We must execute the agenda for renewed hope”.

The FCT Minister also stated that he is not perturbed by attempts by some prominent Nigerians to calling for his resignation through protests over the proposed billions of Naira budget for renovation of the Vice President’s house in Lagos State.

“I hear people who are not aware, ignorant and don’t want to ask question. They want to comment for commenting sake so that people so that people will say that they have said something. Those who know how to run an election under social media platform”, Wike said.

The Minister also thanked President Bola Tinubu for excepting FCT from the treasury single Account (TSA) and the National Assembly for the speedy passage of the 2023 supplementary budget for the ongoing projects in FCT.

Members of the National Assembly delivered goodwill messages at the event.
