A Chieftain of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, Buba Galadima has publicly predicted that President Bola Tinubu can’t win the 2027 Presidential election if the later continues to arm twist leaders of opposition parties to join the ruling
led-All Progressives Congress, APC and work for his re-election.
Galadima shared his views on Channel television programme tagged, ‘Politics Today’, and referenced the President but without mentioning President Tinubu’s name during Monday August 18th 2025 interview.
The former national Secretary of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, alleged that the strategy Nigeria’s ruling party is planning to use to win the 2027 general elections, is rigging.
“People are arm twisting people to join them because they feel that it’s the only by doing arm twisting that you can win election.
“Don’t take this as fallacy. How many Nigerian Governors won elections can win a free and fair election in their own States? They have money to buy the courts. Is this the kind of Nigeria that we are looking for?, he queried.
The politician, lamented that two years into current administration of President Tinubu, the Independent National Electoral Commission could not call political parties campaigning for 2027 elections to order, due to the involvement of prominent politicians in APC that are allegedly against INEC guidelines.
“If they (INEC) can’t stop politicians from jumping the gun, how do they think that they can deliver free and fair elections? That is why some us are keeping quiet for now. We are waiting for the real time so that when we start, the world will know that we are here”, he alleged.
Galadima also ruled plans by former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to defect to the APC for the sake of rumoured Vice Presidential ticket with from President Tinubu who is yet-to officially disclose plans to seek re-election ahead of 2027 polls.
Galadima further allege gross violations of INEC guidelines in last Saturday August 16 2025 by-elections for National and States Houses of Assembly seats held across 12 States, noting that the mandates given to some of the winners due to the lacuna that was created by INEC will not stand the test of time if they are challenged by Nigerians in courts.
He said, “The by-elections have come and gone; except that it has been trailed by some issues, depending on which side of the coin you look at it.
“In fact, all these by-elections elections were conducted illegally by INEC because when a vacancy occurs, INEC is under obligations to conduct a by-election within the next three months.
But, some of these elections were held under two years after the seats become vacant. For example, the ones in Kano State is two years — because it was an election that was declared inclusive by INEC”, according to him.
