Anambra taskforce nabs 632 suspected touts, seizes illicit drugs

The Special Anti-touts Squad has apprehended 632 suspected touts in four different Local government Areas of Anambra State.

Director (Operations) of the taskforce, set up by Governor Charles Soludo of the State, Mr. Solomon Onwuemene disclosed this at a Media briefing.

The suspects were arrested in Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Ogbaru and Idemili North Local government Areas of the State.

He alleged that illicit drugs, including cocaine, packets, methamphetamine (popularly known as mkpụrụ mmiri), and other harmful substances were recovered from the suspects.

Onwuemene, assured that the arrested suspects would appear in court soonest in a bid to discourage others from indulging in criminal activities.

He also lauded Governor Charles Soludo, Commissioner for Homeland Affairs, Mr. Chikodili Anara; and Ndị Anambra (Anambra people) for their unwavering support, which has enhanced operational capacity of the outfit.
