The Edo State government on Friday laid the foundation for the first public primary school project in Ward 6, Oredo Local Government Area which was created in 1976.
Governor Godwin Obaseki performed the groundbreaking Ceremony of the Education Hub and the proposed primary school on Friday, February 3, 2023, in Iyaro, Benin City, the State Capital.
The gigantic projects that are located in the old premises of the old Ministry of Education is one of the legacies of late Brigadier-General Osaigbovo Ogbemudia (Rtd.), would be completed in May 2024.
Obaseki said the world-class facilities would include the Ministry of Education, the Iyaro Primary Health Centre, a sports arena, a green area, the State Universal Basic Education Board, a 500-sitting capacity Conference hall, the Board for Technical and Vocational Education Training, the State Secondary Education Board, the Quality Assurance Office.
Speaking on a Pidgin English breakfast interview in Benin City, Mr Crusoe Osagie, Special Adviser on Media Projects to Governor said, “as at today, you want to go to Post Primary School Board, you will go to Iyaro.
“If you want to go to SUBEB, you go to Secretariat Building on Sapele Road. If you want to go to Technical Board, you to Ugbowo. Now, the Government is planning to put all the Education agencies together in the same location”.
According to him, “SUBEB will be on one side, Post Primary Education Board will be on the other side, alongside TVET. The Government will also build one primary school inside the compound.
“You are aware that location in Oredo Ward 6. Since that Ward was created, the Ward does not have a public primary school till date”
