Adamawa man murders father over dispute, dumps body in well

A 30-year-old man, Peter Sinamai, has allegedly hacked his father to death and dumped his body in a well in Adamawa State following a family dispute.

 

​SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Command in the state, disclosed the incident in a statement on Friday.

 

He noted that the murder suspect was arrested following a report to police operatives and taken into police custody.

 

​”Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly killed his father and disposed of the body in a well within their community,” the police statement read.

 

Police authorities assured that the suspect will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

 

​Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Kabiru Umar Hassan, has ordered a discreet and thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.

 

​Hassan condemned the act and reassured the public of the command’s commitment to justice, urging citizens to pursue lawful and peaceful means of resolving family disputes.

 

The corpse has been recovered and deposited at a mortuary for an autopsy, according to the police spokesman.
