Abia Couple beheaded in apartment, 3 in custody

A Couple, Mr Jacob Udo (78), and his wife, Mrs Dorcas Jacob (73) have been beheaded in their apartment in Etiti-ulo area of Bende Local Government Area of the State.

The Nigeria Police Command in Abia State, said the Couple who hail from Ndiwo Itumbuzo lifeless bodies were found in the pool of blood in their apartment Etiti-ulo in the same Local Government Area of the State, have been recovered by its personnel.

Command’s spokesperson, ASP Maureen C. Chinaka who confirmed the incident that occured on October 2nd 2024, however did not disclose the names of the arrested suspects in police custody.

The statement recalled, “On the 2/10/2024, we received a report at Bende Divisional Headquarters that same date at about 0830hrs, Mr Jacob Udo ‘M’ 78 yrs old and Mrs Dorcas Jacob ‘F’ 73 yrs old, of Ndiwo Itumbuzo Bende LGA Abia State but domiciled at Etiti-ulo in Bende LGA of same State, were found lying lifeless in a pool of blood in their compound at the aforementioned address.

“It was further discovered that several properties were carted away from the house.

“Upon this report, the crime scene was visited and corpses deposited at the mortuary for autopsy. Three (3) suspects were arrested in connection with the heinous crime and are currently under interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Umuahia”, according to the statement.

SP Chinaka said the Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Danladi Isa, expressed his “deep concern over the unfortunate incident”.

The statement also appealed to the good people of Abia State to remain calm, assuring them that the mystery behind this criminal act will be unraveled to ensure prompt dispensation of justice.
