Operatives of the Nigeria police Command in Ogun State have arrested the principal suspect in the murder of 61-year-old retired teacher Mrs. Adedotun Adeteju Oluwaseun, who was killed at her Bode-Olude home on February 27, 2026.
Following sustained efforts by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, detectives apprehended Alhaji Saburi Lateef Ayinde, popularly known as “OKI-OCEAN,” on October 19, 2026.
The command’s spokesman, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi said in a statement that the victim’s body was found in her bathroom on February 28, just a day after attending a retirement celebration hosted by her colleagues.
He disclosed that preliminary findings by the police revealed that the victim was allegedly strangled and attacked with a machete during a confrontation with the suspect.
Upon interrogation, Ayinde confessed to the killing, citing a financial dispute. He claimed he had given the victim ₦3.45 million for safekeeping with an agreement that she would lend him ₦1.5 million to buy a vehicle.
Detectives are working to verify his claims and establish the full timeline of events.
Ogun State Police Commissioner CP Bode Ojajuni commended the investigative team for their persistence and professionalism.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to thoroughly investigating violent crimes and ensuring perpetrators face justice.
The police confirmed that Ayinde will be charged in court once investigations are complete, while urging the public to settle disputes through legal channels and report criminal activity promptly instead of resorting
to self help.
