President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election, urging him to unite the people of the state and focus on promoting growth, stability and socio-economic development.
President Tinubu gave the charge in a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, following Adeleke’s victory in the just-concluded Osun State governorship election.
Tinubu who said he had earlier called Adeleke to congratulate him on his electoral victory, noted that the outcome of the election had reaffirmed the confidence the people of Osun State have in the governor.
He urged Adeleke to use his renewed mandate to bring the people together, irrespective of their political affiliations or the choices they made during the election.
“Now that he has won, Governor Adeleke must unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability, social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices they made at the election,” Tinubu urged.
The President also wished Adeleke success as he prepares to lead the state for another four years, stressing the need for the governor to deploy his mandate toward advancing the welfare and development of the people.
He commended the other contestants for the “courage and discipline” they displayed during the electoral contest, saying their participation contributed to deepening Nigeria’s democratic culture.
He said the outcome of the election reflected the will of the people of Osun State and reaffirmed his confidence in the continued growth of democracy in the country.
“The outcome of the election reflects the will of the people and is a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in our land,” Tinubu stated.
The President also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for conducting a “peaceful and transparent election” that produced a clear winner.
