Two Edo residents held for allegedly staging kidnap in N4m ransom

Operatives of the Nigeria police Command have arrested two residents of Uneme Akpama Community in Aloko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, for conspiring to stage Lucky’s fake kidnapping in the sum of four million Naira (N4, 000,000.00) stake.

 

The command’s spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem who disclosed this on Sunday in a statement, identified the suspects as Lucky Alabi ‘M’, 48 years, and Taiye Enahoro ‘M’, 37 years.

 

Police personnel of Igarra Division, blew up the lids of the criminal suspects on 26th June, 2026, at about 1030hrs, according to the statement, “acting on credible intelligence and through diligent investigative efforts”.

 

“Police operatives uncovered the deception and successfully arrested both suspects as preliminary investigation reveals that the criminal plan was executed on 23rd June, 2026″.

 

Taiye Enahoro allegedly placed several telephone calls to relatives of Lucky Alabi, falsely claiming that Alabi had been kidnapped and demanding the sum of Four Million Naira (₦4,000,000) as ransom for his release”, according to the police.

 

The suspects have confessed to their respective roles in the staged kidnapping” during their interrogation by the police which assured that the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.

 

Commenting on the incident, the Commissioner of Police, in the State, CP Monday Agbonika, warned members of the public against engaging in any form of criminal deception, including staging kidnappings to extort money from unsuspecting relatives.

 

The Commissioner said the police command reiterated its commitment to ensuring all persons involved in criminal acts are brought to justice.

 

He also urged members of the public promptly report suspicious activities, according to the to police statement.
