‘Tell your boyfriends, girlfriends’ — Okpebholo taps into youth culture for Tinubu’s 2.5m votes

Governor Monday Okpebholo has tapped into Edo youth culture, urging them to mobilize their boyfriends, girlfriends, parents and children to support his advocacy in delivering 2.5m votes from the State for the Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, President Bola Tinubu in 2027 presidential election.

 

He made the during the flag-off APC Local Government Campaign for Edo North Senatorial District held on Saturday at at the public field in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area where he formally unveiled Candidates across the 5 LGAs that make up the District.

 

Okpebholo recalled, “In the past, three was no development. Governments could not remove the evil called fuel subsidy. Almighty Obasanjo could not even remove it”. Dr Goodluck Jonathan could not remove it.

 

“But the man that knows how to manage the economy of the nation, under a twinkle of an eye, said ‘subsidy is gone and gone forever’. That pronouncement is the reason why you are seing development all over the place.

 

“We are here for the Local Government elections. That is why I want to remind you of our 2.5 million votes for our President. Take this message home: ‘Tell your boyfriends, tell your girlfriends, tell your mothers and your fathers and your Children about our 2.5 million votes”, according to the Governor.

 

He also commended the President for having the courage to remove subsidy on petroleum products, an economic policy his predecessors, including former Presidents, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and Dr Goodluck Jonathan and others failed to implement during their tenures in office.

 

Addressing party faithful and supporters at the rally, the Minister of Niger Delta Development Commission, Abubakar Momoh and the Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, highlighted notable achievements of the Edo State and the federal governments across the State

 

The key projects, including road infrastructure and the reclamation work at Auchi gully erosion site, which is being undertaken by the federal government in addition to the ongoing reconstructed of an ultra-modern Jattu market and increase in monthly subventions to Edo State University, Iyamho and the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, by the State government.
