A 24-year-old man, Adams Aghedo, who reportedly used a plank to beat his father to death in Idunmwunwina Community, near Upper Mission Extension, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, is cooling his feet in police custody.
Adams, seing as a drug addict, had violently accused his father identified only as ‘Aghedo’ of being responsible for his ordeal before the incident occurred in May 2026, witnesses say.
Adams alibi, was however exposed by Idunmwunwina Community youths, who apprehended and handed him over to Aduwawa Police Division immediately.
The development brushed aside speculations by certain individuals on social media that Aghedo was abducted and died in the hands of bandits..
The spokesperson of the Nigeria police Command in Edo State, SP Ikoedem Eno who spoke in an interview with TheNewspad Media, linked the murder case Adams Aghedo.
She revealed that the murder suspect has been arrested by the police and transferred to Homicide section of the state Criminal Investigation Department at the police headquarters in Benin City, the State Capital.
“Adams Aghedo, “M”, 24 years, allegedly killed his father with a plank. He has been transferred to Homicide section of the state Criminal Investigation Department”, according to SP Ikoedem.
*Early warning signs were ignored by suspect
Reacting to a viral video that captured the moment, Adams, attempted to defend his action after committing the alleged crime, a Community leader, recalled past attempts he made to discourage Adams who muttered, from killing his father.

In a post on social media, the Speaker of a Civic advocacy group, Takakawa Parliament,
Marxist Kola Edokpayi, had advice the State Government must take stringent measures against the sale of hard drugs in the State, as the prevalence of both male and female consumption of hard drug is high.
If this trend continues, it is projected that four out of ten youths will suffer from mental health issues”, Edokpayi said, “advised parents to consistently caution their children against the danger of substance abuse”.
