Okpebholo rewards Edo police with N10m for arresting suspects behind market abduction

Governor Monday Okpebholo on Thursday gave the sum of N10 million to police operatives who arrested kidnap suspects linked to kidnapping of a female resident at the vegetable market last Sunday in Benin City.

 

He announced the reward as a mark of commendation during a parade of suspects at the Edo State Police Command headquarters in the State Capital.

 

He declared that criminals operating in the State, including those who persist in crime will face prosecution in addition to execution warrant, which he will personally sign as the Governor.

 

He said, “we are going to set up a special court to prosecute kidnappers and cultists. Within two weeks, the court is done with proceedings. I will sign your execution.

 

“We will take you to Ring Road roundabout so that Edo people can watch. I will have no regret about it. Don’t take my simplicity for granted,” the Governor said.

 

Earlier in his remarks, the Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Monday Agbonika confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that efforts are being intensified to track down the remaining members of the kidnap gang.

 

The police commissioner, urged members of the public to keep providing timely and credible information to the police personnel.

 

One red colour Lexus RX 350 marked: EKP 848 AE, a pump-action shotgun, two live cartridges, a motorcycle, and cash totalling N2,250,000 suspected to be proceeds of crime were amongst the items police recovered from the criminal suspects.
