30-year-old son mobbed to death after killing father over ‘inability to provide food’ in Edo

Tragedy struck when a 30-year-old man identified as “Pero Odese, has been mobbed to death in a bloody reprisal attack for hacking his father, Friday Odese, following the inability of the later to provide food for his son in Edo State.

 

The incident that occurred at Ikekhe quarters at Uwessan, Ewatto Community in Esan South East Local Government Area of the State at the weekend.

 

It was learnt that ‘Pero’ had confronted his father (Friday) who blamed his inability to go to his farm and harvest cassava and process food, following reports of the presence of gunmen in the bush, leading to his farm.

 

Unsatisfied with the response from his father, after a heated argument, ‘Pero’ allegedly pulled out a machete and hack his father to death and thereafter attacked a mediator with the same machete.

 

The mediator was said to have attempted to stop the violence when he got a close shave with death, following the alarm raised by a female witness that caught the attention of the mediator who urgently intervened.

 

Tension however rose to a fever pitch when angry mob stormed the crime scene, lynched the 30-year-old attacker and killed him, before taking the injured mediator to an undisclosed hospital for urgent medical care.

 

TheNewspad reports that the two corpses have been evacuated into a morgue for preservation, amid rising tension that is creating an emotional atmosphere for residents in the area.

 

Reacting to the incident, the spokesperson of the Nigeria police Command, SP Eno Ikoedem, expressed sadness over the incident, which she said has yet-to-be reported to the Police Division at Ewohinmin in the Local Government Government Area.
