Three Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs
who took refuge in Gwada camp have died of hunger in Niger State.
The victims who fled Kaore and Bassa Communities in Shiroro due to insurgency in the camp where they lived for six years.
Hussaini Alhassan, desk officer at the Gwada IDPs camp disclosed this in an interview with African Independent Television, AIT.
Alhassan, decried lack of healthcare facilities and food in the IDP camp which recently recorded the death of two newborns.
The babies died during delivery due to a lack of health facilities and other basic amenities, according to the desk officer who solicited for support to address food shortages and improve healthcare in camps.
In a similar vein, Coordinator of Kuta IDPs camp, Yusuf Kuta, confirmed the death of an elderly woman in the camp, are among the three victims.
According to him, 300 IDPs, mostly women and children, lacked food and other essentials, therefore calling on the government to come to the aid of the IDPs.
