Operatives of the Nigeria police Command in Anambra State begun to profile a parents linked to the discovery of lifeless infant twins, dumped in a drainage channel on Cooperative Street, Nwokedi, Okpoko, Okpoko area of Ogbaru Local Government Area in Anambra State.
Residents of the area, called the attention of police to the horrific scene when they woke in the early hours of Sunday June 21, 2026, leading to the arrest of the couple whose identity is undisclosed.
The Command’s spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the incident on Sunday in a statement where the State Commissioner of police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, condemned the
disturbing case of man’s inhumanity to man and a gross violation of the sanctity of human life.
He stated that every child deserves protection, care, and the opportunity to live, while assuring the Command’s resolve to prosecute the culprits in the crime.
“Following the report, operatives immediately swung into action, secured the scene, gathered vital evidence, and commenced investigations.
“The preliminary investigation led to the identification and arrest of the biological parents of the infants, who are currently in Police custody and assisting investigators in unraveling the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident”, CP Orutugu said.
