Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has revealed that the N1 billion donation made by Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of President Bola Tinubu recently to Benue State is yet to be accessed.

Solomon Lorpev, Technical Adviser to Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication dropped the hint, while addressing journalists over some Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs besieged the Makurdi/Laafia Federal Highway, demanding for their share in the largesse.

The Governor’s Aide who described the protest as
as premature and politically motivated, alleging that the demonstration was instigated by political elements seeking to tarnish the image of the Alia-led administration.

“It is unfortunate that IDPs took to the streets just a day after the First Lady presented the cheque. The funds have not yet been cleared or made available for use, yet we witnessed road blockades and protests,.

“This clearly shows there is a political agenda behind the action. Someone went and told them that N1 billion was given for them yesterday. So, they should come out and protest”, Lorpev said.

Calling for unity, Iorpev urged politicians and stakeholders to set aside differences and support ongoing efforts to rebuild and stabilize the State.

Residents protest, which began at about 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, grounded traffic and business activities for several hours, while Commuters were stranded, with many forced to turn back due to the gridlock.

The Newspad reports that IDPs displayed placards with inscriptions like “no food, no BSEMA” and “no food for 2 months”, arising from the delay in sharing the donation by the First Lady of Nigeria.
