The Kano State House of Assembly has suspended Yusuf Bello Aliyu, the lawmaker representing Nassarawa Local Government Area.
He was slammed with three months over online comments and a viral video directed at Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, reports say
The disciplinary action was officially announced during the Sssembly’s plenary session on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, following mounting concerns among lawmakers over the representative’s social media activities.
Under the terms of the suspension, Aliyu has been barred from participating in all legislative activities and committee duties for the three-month duration.
The controversy stems from a video circulating on social media platforms showing Aliyu holding a rabbit by its ears while making comments deemed offensive and derogatory toward the State Governor.
Prior to handing down the suspension, the House had indicated plans to summon the lawmaker to explain his actions and address the public outcry surrounding the clip.
Speaking after the plenary session, Lawan Hussaini Dala confirmed the assembly’s position, stating that Aliyu is expected to appear before the house leadership and tender an official public apology to Governor Yusuf before regaining his seat.
