Emotional tributes poured for slain Inspector Akor Onuh orderly to Senator Monday Okpebholo, Edo State Governor-elect, amid tears by family members and security personnel.
The officer who was laid to rest in his home town in Ogani Okai Ofante Ogugu, Olamaboro LGA, in Kogi State, three months after he was gun down by political thugs on July 18th 2024.
The incident occurred near Benin Airport exit gate in Benin City shortly after the arrival of Okpebholo and the reinstated deputy Governor of Edo State from FCT Abuja.
Police authorities had confirmed the arrest of some murder suspects while Okpebholo had also insisted that he will not rest untill Inspector Onuh killers are unmasked.
In a short footage shared on Facebook, little children can be heard crying daddy oh. Daddy oh while performing dust-to-dust.
Netizens are sending condolences to bereaved families in social Media Community, some prominent politicians in Edo State have been called out and accused of spitting on the gravesite of the dead.
The comment followed acerbic posts credited to a social Media user, Rita Ebiuwa, who alleged that the Cop’s murder that heightened tension in build up the September 21st governorship election in the State, was staged managed.

Mr Godswill Inegbe, Special Assistant to the Governor-elect, has asked the Inspector-General of Police to reign-in on unsavory comments by Ebiuwa as a deterrent.
He said, “Therefore, I want to state categorically that Rita Ebiuwa should be invited for questioning by the Edo State Police Command in respect to her obvious knowledge regarding the circumstances surrounding the brutal murder of Inspector.
“The family of slain Inspector Akor deserves justice for the murder of their breadwinner. Thus, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), owes the family the singular duty of ensuring that killers of Inspector Akor are brought to book”, Onegbe said.
TheNewspad recalls that the State Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, Tony Aziegbemin and the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun had tangled over the murder during Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Stakeholders meeting in Benin City, ahead of the just concluded poll.
He stirred the hornet nest when accused the Nigeria Police under the leadership of IGP who countered Aziegbemin after accusing him of partisan in investigating the murder incident.
Aziegbemin said, “we have not seen a Nigeria Police under the leadership of the IG that is partisan. We are so disappointed. Before on the 18th of July incident, Edo State was very peaceful.
“Nothing happened until that unfortunate incident that happened on that day at the airport”, according to Aziegbemin, “The Nigeria police have been so bias under the IGP. I have a list of my party members that have been arrested”.
But, the IGP said, “you (Aziegbemin) accused the IG of been a partisan IG for making arrest in connection with the killing of a policeman at the airport. If that makes me partisan, if you hold the opinion for going after the killers of a policeman, I think you will remain with that opinion forever”, he said.
