Oba of Benin honours ‘Igbo man’ with Royal beads

Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, CFR, Oba of Benin has awarded Ikele (Royal beads) to a Benin-based Nigerian, Mr Fecus Ezekwere, leaving had fond memories.

Ezekwere who hails from South eastern part of Nigeria, found favour in Oba Ewuare’s sight for his unwavering commitment to service of God and humanity.

The presiding Priest of Holy Aruosa Cathedral (Edo national church), Ohen-Osa Edebiri Igbinoghodua made the announcement during Oba Ewuare’s 8th commemorative service on Sunday October 20th 2024 in Benin City.

Notable among recipients of Ikele include Lady Doris Oboh and the former Zonal Director, Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Benin Network Centre, Mrs Pauline Igbanor who was present at the service.

University of Benin (UNIBEN) Theatre Art Department students, Acrobatics display by Esan Masquerade known as Igbabonelimhin made vibrant and impressive entertainment.

Also, Uyiedo Renaissance group and Holy Aruosa children cultural troupes, stirred minds of attendees who joyfully dance and gave thanks to Almighty God during the service.

In the end of the service, Oba Ewuare II, proceeded to meet Royal onlookers who got a peek behind with their mobile phone decides to preserve the memory at the Cathedral which was built Centuries ago, amid cheers and excitement.
