Police: Assailants rustle 65 cows, injure 7 in Abia

Assailants have rustled 65 cows at a Cattle market at Lokpanta Cattle Market in Umunneochi and Eziama Nunya in Isuikwato Local Government Areas

in Abia State.

The Nigeria Police Command in the State said the hoodlums injured seven persons in the attack where seven persons were injured.

Command’s spokesperson, SP Maureen Chiamaka said in a statement that 56 rustled cows have been recovered by a combined team of security agents and assured that the remaining missing cows will be recovered.

The police statement followed an on-the-spot assessment of the areas by the Commissioner of Police Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, arising from a recent attack of seven youths by yet-to-be-identified assailants.

“During the visit, the CP extended his heartfelt sympathy to members of the community. He (CP) reassured them of the Command’s unwavering commitment to bringing the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice.

“He urged them to remain calm, refrain from taking laws into their own hands, and cooperate fully with the Police.

“To expedite justice, the Command in collaboration with local guards from Seriki Hausa, has successfully recovered 56 of the missing Cattle.

“Intensive operations are in progress to track down the remaining cattle and apprehend the assailants”, the police spokesperson said.
