Rivers State Governor Similanayi Fubara declared that his administration “will not surrender to barefaced lies and blackmail from anyone, no matter how powerful he may be”.
He noted that the government “remain focused and re-dedicated to the interest of the nation, our dear Rivers State and the cause of our people”.
Fubara said this during the 64th Nigerian Independence Day Anniversary Parade at the Government House Arcade in Port Harcourt on Tuesday morning.
The Governor endorsed President Bola Tinubu economic reforms and promise to always put Rivers people interest first in decision making and government polices.
Fubara also listed areas of priorities of his administration and impacts that have been made so far in remodelling the State.
He also noted that considerable attention to education with the rehabilitation of schools, provision of educational materials and implement 65-year teachers’ retirement age.
He further assured that approval for the recruitment of more teachers in line with the recommendations of the “Needs Assessment Committee Report” would be given attention by the government.
The Governor extended goodwill message to men and officers of the Armed Forces for their services of bravery and worthy sacrifice in defending the collective freedom, unity and security of Nigeria that gained her independence from its former colony, Britain on October 1, 1960.
