Dr Osaigbovo Iyoha, Chief of Staff to the Governor Godwin Obaseki has declared that the Nigeria police personnel could not access about 15 out of the 18 Local Government Areas of the State before the current government in the State.
The Chief of Staff said this during ‘Politics Today’ interview on Channel Television while speaking on achievements of Edo State government.
He explained that men of the Nigeria Police could only effect arrest in the three Metropolitan Local Government Areas — Oredo, Egor and Ikpoba-Okha before Governor Godwin Obaseki set up Edo State Security Network.
During his self assessment of Governor Obaseki recalled that, “when we came in, we set up Edo State Security Network (ESSN). I can tell you for free that before this time, the Nigeria Police could only successfully effect arrest by themselves in about three Local Government Councils —Oredo, Egor and Ikpoba-Okha.
“But, since the Security Network came in, we know what they have been able to do. We were riddled with kidnap on daily basis. Sometimes, right along Benin—Abuja corridor at Uhunmwode Local Government axis”, according to Dr Iyoha.

He also said Governor Obaseki-led government has a good story to tell about how human trafficking menace and prostitution as well as forced Migration, which assumed alarming proportion under past administration in Edo.
When challenged to provide verifiable data on the employment/ unemployment index, poverty and productive rates of the government over the past seven years, Dr Iyoha said the data are not with him.
*400 pupils and 15,000 teachers trained under EdoBEST
Speaking on milestones recorded by the government in Education sector, Dr Iyoha said, “we have moved from analogue to digital. EdoBEST, has changed Pedagogic teaching. And today, over 15,000 teachers have been trained and retrained”, while “over 400,000 pupils have benefitted from this scheme”.
*Schools and health facilities built by Obaseki
Reacting to the number of jobs that have been added, the number of schools and health facilities that were built by the current administration, the Governor’s Aide said, “It is what our Children are learning that is more important. It’s not about infrastructure. It’s not just only infrastructure alone anymore”.
*Surge in public schools enrollments
Continuing, he said, “it will interest you to know that one of the highest Private schools in Nigeria. But, in the last couple of years we came in, we have witnessed a trend where Parents are now pulling their Children from Private schools and they are now bringing them to government schools so that they can gain from EdoBEST”, Dr Iyoha said.
