NYSC revokes 101 varsity graduates certificates

For mobilizing illegal graduates for national service, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has revoked certificates of 10 University of Calabar (UNICAL) in Cross River State, raising serious concerns among Nigerian stakeholders.

The affected graduates were mobilized during the 2021, 2022, and 2023 service years, according to the Director, Information and Public Relations of the Corp, Mr Eddy Megwa.

He revealed that the organisation took this action to maintain the integrity of the national service programme and prevent unqualified individuals from participating.

The NYSC also advised the public, particularly Corps Employers, Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Corporate and Religious Organizations, Multi-National Companies, and Corps Producing Institutions, to verify the authenticity of certificates presented to them.

The statement, which made available to Channels Television said the affected individuals were found to have been mobilised fraudulently, and their certificates have been canceled immediately as part of the NYSC’s strong commitment to ensuring that only qualified individuals are issued certificates of national service.
