Some Nigerians on social Media space have recommended adult literacy Education for Senator Adams Oshiomhole, following his recent declaration on a Satellite Television that Mr Asue Ighodalo, the Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the September 21 Edo State Governorship election is unable to sleep his village, Ewohimi in Esan South East LGA because the later was probably scared of witches and wizards in the area.
The two term former Governor of the State during his interview on Arise Television, alleged that Edo State Peoples Democratic Party primary election held in February that produced Ighodalo as Candidate of the Party, was conducted in clear breach of the electoral law.
The former national Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, berated Ighodalo, admitting that the later is from the Local Government his late wife, Mrs Clara Oshiomhole hails from, but, the alleged inability of the PDP Candidate to speak Esan language, makes unelectable and unfit to succeed Governor Godwin Obaseki in the State.
But, when one of the interviewer, challenged Oshiomhole to fact-check his claims if the PDP Candidate has actually been disqualified from seeking election, Oshiomhole chuckled and mutter momentarily and began to find his bearing in cause of the interraction.
“I pray Asue Ighodalo introduce adult literacy programme when he is sworn in as Edo State governor 2024”, GOC Chris Tian Eghosa wrote on Facebook over the comments made by the two term Governor of the State, that is causing buzz online.
Another Facebook user Ken-sele Okogbenin said, “Please also tell them the bookshop”, while Osaheni Enore Magdalena in veiled response to the post, asked: “Are you more educated than oshiomole children that are now calling for family intervention and settlement?
“Lemme surprise you with this….Oshiomole’s late wife is a cousin to Dr Barr Asue. In other words, Oshiomole is an inlaw to Asue. Should incase you are still in doubt, go to Ewohimi and ask for their family history”, she said.
Stoking the hornet nest further, Ogbemudia Odion also queried, “Why must Oshiomhole make reference to witches and wizards in issues that concerns Esanland. If Asue decide not to sleep at Ewohimi, Is it Oshiomhole’s headache?”.
The unfazed Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, alleged that “Asue Ighodalo cannot even speak the language of his people at Ewohimi where my late wife comes from. He is not electable.
He said, “Nigerians do not want a double breasted Consultant transaction expert with one hand in his pocket. What was his achievements as Chairman of Alaghodaro (Edo yearly progress summit) other than spending billions of Naira as a Consultant?”
“He (Ighodalo doesn’t know Edo State. He cannot speak his language. Even the day he went to announce himself as a governorship aspirant to his own people at Ewohimi. He (Ighodalo) carried an interpreter to speak to the villagers”, according to Oshiomhole alleged.
He also said, “when he (Ighodalo) finished, he returned to Benin. He didn’t sleep in his village, local people are all witches and wizards — typical of some segments of elites. A man like that cannot govern”.
TheNewspad reports that netizens seem bipartisan divided over Oshiomhole’s outburst in the viral video that has gained more traction online, ahead of the forthcoming election.
