The embattled deputy Governor of Edo State, Mr Philip Shaibu on Thursday skipped
the panel siting investigating allegation of gross misconducts levelled him arising from a directive by the State House of Assembly.
Without any ill intention what suggests to be a moment of high exuberance, Shaibu described Senator Adams Oshiomhole as his father in a tribute, marking 72nd Birthday of the former Governor of Edo State.
The deputy Governor tribute captioned, “The Lion Keeps Waxing Stronger”, published on Facebook reads, “My father, my elder brother, my friend, my leader — Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomole, presenting Edo North Senatorial District.
“It’s with utmost happiness that I’m joining the host of heaven and millions of friends and family across the world to celebrate you on your 72nd Birthday”, according to Shaibu.
Continuing, Shaibu said, “You (Oshiomhole) have immensely contributed to mankind, your state and the country at large in your best capacity and your works are there for the world to celebrate and appreciate.
“My prayer for you is to continue to grow stronger and keep shaping your world in your best capacity”, Shaibu’s post which was accompanied by photographs where he was seen at the National Assembly in Abuja, congratulatinf Senator Oshiomhole and his colleagues during the former labour leader’s inauguration in 2023.
Shaibu’s comments come barely 24 hours after the seven-man panel, set up by the Edo State Chief Judge, Justice Daniel Okungbowa, overruled him after the Counsel to Mr Philip Shaibu, Professor Oladoyin Awoyale (SAN), objected to the continuation of the investigation.
Counsel referenced a Federal High Court order requiring the panel to show cause why an interlocutory injunction to main status quo, until the determination of the substantive suit by the Plaintiff (Mr Philip Shaibu) in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja billed for April 8, 2024.
At the second sitting of the panel on Thursday April 4, 2024, chairman of the panel, Justice S. A Omonuwa (retd.), fixed Friday, April 5, 2024 for final adjournment for him to appear and defend himself before the investigative panel.
