Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike says he consider his investment in governor of Rivers State, governor Siminalayi Fubara, his former most trusted aide as a loss in response to moves by the duo to consolidate their authority over Rivers after a bitter struggle.
Recall that Wike moved Fubara who was elected on the platform of Peoples Democratic party, PDP in 2023 general elections from being Director of Finance in Government House to become the Accountant-General of the State, way ahead of many of his seniors in public service when Wike was elected governor of Rivers State for a second on May 29, 2019-2023.
The FCT Minister made this known at a Media parley with journalists on Cable television monitored by TheNewspad on Tuesday, Nigeria’s Capital where Wike stated that he has moved on despite the alleged betrayal by his antagonist (Fubara).
In politics, it is like a business, sometimes, you will enjoy, another time, you run to loss. If you kill yourself, will you go back to the business? It’s not every investment you make that you reap from. That is the only way that you can move forward in life.
“I bought the forms for all of them in 2023. I told them let us choose one person instead of dissipating our energy.
“I consider investment in him as a loss, but I have moved on”, Wike said while challenging Governor Fubara to publish the debt profile of the State, he inherited.
The FCT Minister berated Governor Fubara and his new found political allies, including Senator Lee Meaba, Mr Celestine Omehia, Prince Uche Secondus, former national chairman of Peoples Democratic party for been ungrateful to those who assisted him to win election.
Wike insisted that Secondus, is no longer a member of PDP, having lost our his court cases contesting his suspension from the party based on the decisions of a High Court, Appeal court judgement, which affirmed Secondus suspension before the case was dispensed off by the Supreme Court.
Reacting to last week Press Conference held in Port Harcourt, where Governor Fubara supporters publicly pledged their support for President Bola Tinubu and threatened to teach Wike a lesson, the FCT Minister insisted that the fairweather politicians have nothing good to offer Governor Fubara, but siphon public funds that are met for the State development.
