The deputy governor of Edo State, Mr Philip Shaibu has hailed Bendel Insurance Football Club for their one goal victory over Aso Chlef Football Club of Algeria.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederation Cup preliminary clash, played at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Saturday in Benin City, Edo State.
Bendel Insurance striker, Imade Osarenkhoe, scored the lone goal of the game in the 41st minute of the match to a jubilant crowd of supporters.
The deputy Governor however enjoined the players and Coaching crew not lose sight of the return leg match against Aso Chlef billed for August 27 in Algeria.
Shaibu said in a post on social media on Saturday that: “We have only won the battle, not the war, so I will be there to support you for the second leg of next week”.
He also charged the team to work put up a superlative performance in their next march and make Edo State proud after the tension soaked entertaining match.
According to him, “It wasn’t an easy encounter with the Algerian Cup winners, but our boys showed resilience and proved that they are not pushovers.
“Watching from the screen, I was excited and celebrated Imade (The Black Bullet’s) Osarenkhoe’s goal in the 41st minute of the game”.
