Three robbery suspects, popularly referred to as one chance Bus robbers have been arrested by police operatives Sagamu, Ijebu area of Ogun State.
The three-man robbery gang, identified as Ayomide Akerele, Yinka Olanipekun and Olatunde Olapade, were caught by SP Ibiyeye Bolaji Hakeem the Divisional Police officer of SAKURA in the State.
SP Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Command in Ogun State disclosed this on Monday in a statement.
She explained that SP. Hakeem used most of the victim’s accounts as baits to lure the suspects who pick passengers at garages as decoy and after few minutes into the journey.
The syndicate, according to the police, would demand for their passengers valuables, disposes them of their Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards before they were tracked down.
They also force victims to make cash transfer online into an account from the victim account to an undisclosed Bank account.
This was after the robbery suspects made their passengers swear to a fearful oath of secrecy to a statue and push their victims out of a moving vehicle.
Nemesis however caught up with the three-man gang, after robbing a passenger, Isaac Alabi the sum of N150,000.00 (One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) and pushed her off a moving vehicle.
The incident prompted the police to tighten the noose, that led to their arrest of the three suspects who have also confessed to the crime.
The police spokesperson said that the operational vehicle used by the gang has also been recovered to the police station.
