Outrage as hit-and-run driver crushes Edo traffic official

A yet-to-be identified hit-and-run driver has reportedly crushed an official of Edo State Traffic Management Agency (EDTMA).

Sources said the incident occurred on Wednesday morning at Aduwawa area in Uhunmwode Local government Area of the State.

The victim was knocked down while attempting to arrest the fleeing traffic offender in a Spot Utility Vehicle and left the EDTMA staff with bruises on his body.

An angry witness said the vehicle ran and due to the rowdy situation, it was difficult to film the driver or immediately obtain particulars of the vehicle.

“The driver of the Jeep escaped. There is a crowd of sympathizers here”, the witness said, the official was in the line of duty.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene and took the victim to undisclosed hospital for urgent medical attention.

TheNewspad said authorities of EDTMA and men of Aduwawa Police Division are said to be closing the net on the fleeing motorist.
