74-year-old wheelchair bound woman burnt to death in Anambra

 

Police authorities at Abagana Divisional Police Headquarters in Anambra State have recovered the corpse of 74-year-old woman who was reportedly burnt to death by alleged arsonists in the State.

In a swift move, police have taken four murder suspects into its custody in connection with the crime that happened on January 26th at about 9a.m at Abagana in the State.

A 21-year old lady Chinenye Ekwenugo from Ifitedunu alongside Uzochukwu Okeke ‘M’ aged 47, Fidel Anayo ‘M’ aged 60
and Ikenna Anene ‘M’ aged 54 years respectively, all from Abagana are among the suspects named in the alleged ritual murder.

Chinenye told Nigeria police that her lover, Ifeanyi Igwe who is currently at large and three others set the victim ablaze and got a casket to bury her before the intervention of the security operatives.

Police authorities in a Press statement from the Public Relations Unit of the Command, assured that the fleeing culprit whose name was given as Ifeanyi Igwe would be track down.

In the meantime, police have recovered the casket and body of the deceased which has been deposited in the morgue for autopsy and further probe of the cause of the death.

The Commissioner of Police in the State CP Nnaghe Obono Itam has ordered the transfer of the case to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Command for a diligent investigation.

Recall that the Anambra State government recently banned activities of all native doctors renowned for making charms and aiding criminals in the State including other punitive measures such as 6-years imprisonment for culprits.
