Four suspects have been arrested by police operatives in connection with the alleged recent attack on Niger State governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago convoy in Bida Local Government Area of the State.
Spokesman of the Nigeria police Command in the State, SP Wasiu Abiodun, recalled the the incident that occurred on November 2, 2025, at about 1:45 pm, when the Governor’s convoy was leaving Bida for Minna after the Local Government election.
“Reports received from ‘B’ Division, Bida, indicated that some miscreants and thugs attacked the governor’s convoy with stones and other dangerous weapons,” the statement said.
SP Abiodun revealed that the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) of A and B Divisions, Bida, swiftly mobilised their teams and fired teargas to disperse the attackers. However, several vehicles in the convoy were damaged during the incident.
During the ensuing pursuit, three suspects were arrested and identified as Ali Mohammed and Adamu Hussain, both of Nasarafu area, Bida, and Isah Umaru of Darachita area, Bida, according to the police spokesman.
The statement said further follow-up investigation by the police, one Abdulmalik Usman Nagemu, aged 39, of Bello Masaba area, Bida, was also arrested in connection with the crime.
SP Abiodun also revealed that preliminary investigation led to the mention of two other suspects, identified as Salihu Mohammed and Abdulrahman Baba, who are currently being tracked.
He further assured that “All suspects are under investigation and assisting the police in identifying others involved. Efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects are ongoing”.
