4 deaths in Benue cult clash greets new CP’s arrival

Police authorities have confirmed four persons dead in connection with a violent clash of cult groups last weekend Akpehe area of Makurdi, Benue State Capital.

Spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Command in Benue State, CSP Catherine Anene disclosed this on Monday in a statement.

She revealed that an unspecified number of survivors of the attack are currently receiving treatment at the an undisclosed hospital.

“The suspected cult attack at Akpehe is confirmed and investigation has commenced. Four(4) persons were confirmed dead, while others are currently receiving treatment at the hospital”, Anene said.

She also said the newly posted Commissioner of Police to Benue State, CP. Emenari Ifeanyi “warns hoodlums greeting him with crime to desist from such acts as he will not tolerate crime under his watch”.

CP Ifeanyi who got enlisted into the Nigeria Police Academy in the year 1992, holds a Master of Art degree and doctoral degree in Literature in English, according to the previous statement issued by the Command.
