3 policemen detained over student’s murder

Three policemen have been arrested for alleged murder of Abdulqoyum Abdulyekeen Ishola, Kwara State Polytechnic, student in Kwara State.

The development comes barely 24 hours after Polytechnic Rector, Engr. Abdul Jimoh Muhammed through the spokesperson of the Polytechnic, Mrs Halimat Garba said circumstances that led to the demise of the student was sketchy and commended the peaceful conduct of students of the school.

Force spokesman, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the officers involved in this incident have been identified as Inspector Abiodun Kayode, Inspector James Emmanuel, and Sergeant Oni Philip.

In a statement issued on Monday said the personnel were “attached to the Department of Operations, Kwara State Command and they have been consequently detained for investigation” into the murder of National Diploma two (ND 2) Electrical Electronic Engineering student.

ACP Adejobi revealed that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has ordered the Homicide Section of the federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja to takeover investigation.

He said the Inspector-General of Police who is deeply saddened by this unfortunate event that has led to the loss of a young Nigerian, expresses his deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased.

The statement particularly acknowledges the profound grief and loss caused by this unfortunate act and reassures the victim’s family and the public that justice will be served.

TheNewspad reports the arrested personnel are expected to undergo orderly room before the police high Command and it found guilty, they will be dismissed.
