Operatives of the Nigeria Police Command in Abia State have dismantled criminal camps, recovering 28 human skulls and various bones believed to belong to kidnap victims.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, the raids took place on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
The operations targeted forest hideouts in Umuaku, Isuochi, and another camp in Nneato, Isuochi, after the hoodlums fled the area during bush-combing operations.
She noted that the joint operation was executed using actionable intelligence by a multi-unit task force.
The team comprised the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Anti-Cultism Unit, Intelligence Response Unit (IRU), Rapid Response Squad (RRS), and operatives from the Isuochi Divisional Police Station.
Commenting on the breakthrough, the Commissioner of Police, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, emphasized that ongoing police investigations will ensure there is no safe haven for criminal elements anywhere in the State.
