Youth Assembly blames Govs for hunger crisis

Arewa Youth Assembly for Good Leadership has asked Governors to take responsibility for the persistent hunger crisis in Nigeria, accusing heads of most sub-national governments of graft.

Mr Abdul Danbature, the Speaker of the pressure group made the assertion on Wednesday August 7 Satellite Television interview where he expressed sadness that Nigeria youths have been configured to only look onto the federal government for succour.

According to him, “The problems we have in this Country are the Governors. But, most of the time, we channel our energy to the Centre (federal government) while we leave the major people that are the reason why our people are suffering daily”.

He said, “when the federal government releases allocation to them (Governors), instead of them to reach out to the people directly, they won’t do that. Yet, the federal government keeps injecting monies into the State without a significant development”.

Speaking further, Danbature argued that the leadership of the pressure group has decided to use its local Coordinators to dialogue with critical Stakeholders at the sub-national levels for a positive result that would impact Nigerian youths maximally.

The Speaker of Arewa Youth Assembly for Good Leadership, however demanded for the reduction in cost governance at all levels including the States and National Assembly.

He also vowed that protests will return to the streets of their demands including reversal for fuel subsidy removal and other issues of concern are not met by President Bola Tinubu at the earliest time.
