Tossed out into the Asaba humidity with zero cash and a growing bump, Chioma learned the hard way that “happily ever after” usually requires actual housing.
When a family friend coldly denied her a couch to crash on for the night, Chioma found herself in a low-cost hotel room playing survival roulette.
Thereafter, Chioma joined a sketchy WhatsApp group where babies are apparently traded like vintage sneakers.
Desperate, homeless, and running on fumes, dark skin Chioma, negotiated to sell her unborn child for N1,200,000.
She warned vulnerable Nigerian mothers to be weary of social media groups dedicated for surrogates and child trafficking in Nigeria.
Already the a suspected human trafficker, Chimamanda Daniels, pocketed a cool N5,8 million from a buyer of the baby named Hajiya Binta.
Delivered on July 13, 2026, at a private clinic in Orozo, Abuja, with a midwife named Ijeoma supervising the transaction, Chioma had a last-minute change of heart, she told Martins Otse (Very Dark Man) in an explosive interview.
But the trafficking syndicate didn’t care about maternal regret, bombarding her phone with threats even after dropping N2.2 million into her account.
Luckily, Chioma chose chaos for the traffickers by calling in Otse and the Nigeria Police to her plight.
Plot twist: the baby stayed, the traffickers got exposed, and the group chat was permanently deleted.
Trauma recovery isn’t just about crying into a therapist’s plush couch—sometimes, you have to laugh so you don’t scream at the sheer absurdity of human survival.
The nursing mother also explained that her awful choices in search of survival, drove her to take such drastic measures.
Chioma’s journey from government house squatter to accidental black-market negotiator is heavy, but resilience often wears the mask.
Having re-united with baby, but Chioma can longer take custody of her child currently in a foster home as opposed to handling over to the mother of the child arising from trust deficit.
He also showered praises on the FCT police authority for their swift response that led to the rescue and standing up for citizens, especially survivors of a thriving child trafficking network, fueled by hardship of some and greed of others.
