Two suspected armed robbers and alleged drug peddler’ behind cult-related violence arrested and taken into police custody in Anambra State, where a suspected drug peddler,
Oluchukwu Onyekwe, of Agukwu Nri, Anaocha Local Government Area, was also arrested by the Command’s operatives in separate operations.
The spokesman of the Nigeria police Command in Anambra State, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said
in a statement identified the two male robbery suspects as Williams Ndifon and David Missang, age 27 each.
Ikenga, alleged that Ndifon and Missang were intercepted by Violence Crime Response Unit, VCRU, while on patrol on the Igbariam/Achalla Road, while atop a Daylong motorcycle at the time of their arrest in the mid day of 19th June 2026.
A thorough search conducted on the suspects by the police, led to the recovery of the following items: One locally made Beretta pistol, a Daylong motorcycle, a live ammunition and Six GSM phones as well as two power banks in addition to One sledgehammer and one chisel/metal crack tool.
In addition, quantities of substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa and One black polo shirt bearing the inscription “Nigeria Army Barracks Youths Foundation (NABYF)”, were also recovered by the police.
In a related raid, the same date, 19th June 2026, at about 6:00 pm, operatives of the VCRU acting on intelligence, arrested 21-year-old (Onyekwe) male suspect who was found in possession of appreciable quantities of dried weeds suspected to be Cannabis Sativa.
The police spokesman said, “Preliminary investigations also linked the suspect to cult-related activities in the area”.
The suspect remains in custody while further interrogation and investigations continue by the police Command which urged residents to continue supporting the Police with credible and timely information to enhance public safety and security.
