The Nigerian Army troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), have successfully foiled a kidnappers’ roadblock, neutralized a notorious bandit known as “Cool Nigga,” and apprehended two other suspects in separate operations across Benue State.

HQ JTF Operation whirl stroke, Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu Zubairu said in a statement that troops acted on credible intelligence regarding a bandit kingpin and his associates operating an illegal checkpoint along the Jortar–Atume axis, OPWS troops swiftly mobilized to the area.
Upon arrival, troops engaged the criminals in a firefight. One suspected bandit, locally nicknamed “Cool Nigga,” was neutralized, while his accomplices fled in disarray, abandoning a motorcycle that was subsequently recovered.
In a separate operation in Logo Local Government Area, troops deployed to Gou Village acted on a tip-off and apprehended two suspects: Terhile Iyo (44) and Vershima Emmanuel (32).
The suspects reportedly confessed to an attempted kidnapping of Mrs. Balame Nyikwagh.
Recovered Items
During the operations, security forces recovered several incriminating items from the suspects, including:
One locally made pistol and one cartridge
Five Tecno torchlight phones
A MoniePoint ATM card and an identity card
Multiple SIM cards and charms.
The military has confirmed that the arrested suspects remain in custody for further investigation.
Meanwhile, the Force has reassured law-abiding residents of its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, urging the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
