Rivers govt House security Guards protest unpaid entitlements

Date:

Some aggrieved security guards, including police officers on Wednesday threatened to shut down Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt over non-payment of their allowances and other entitlements by the former Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas (retired), a claim TheNewspad has yet to immediately verify.

The tension arose following reports that Ibas disappearance following President Bola Tinubu’s ended six months military rule and restored democratic government on September 17, 2025.

The yet-to-be identified personnel expressed their displeasure in a viral video where they accused the Sole Administrator of fleecing the State treasury and leaving them stranded.

A police officer attached to SWATS said they are “no longer going to work. We will block this gate and nobody will go anywhere. What kind of thing is this. For six months of hard labour, suffering. For what?”.

Another operatives said, “they made millions inside this rain, while another officer, was seen appealing to his aggrieved colleagues to soft-pedal, just as a guest was seen making a phone call”.
