Protesters destroy Wike’s statue in Rivers

Angry protesters have destroyed the statue of Mr Nyesom Wike, the

the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Minister in River State, Southern part of Nigeria.

Thia followed the dissolution of the 3-year-old tenure elected Council chairmen and Ward Councillors across the State.

Governor Similanayi Fubara who announced the dissolution in a broadcast, replaced the Councils’ officials s with 23 Heads of Local Government Administrators.

Wike’s statue is located Obio-Akpo Local Government Area of the State on Tuesday June 18th when violence broke out.

The statue was cut at its base and thereafter hauled away by protesters making anti Wike’s chants in a video where others cheer.
