Police rescue 3-day-old baby abducted from uncompleted building

Operatives of the Nigeria police Command in Nasarawa State have rescued 3-day-old baby boy who was abducted from an uncompleted building located at the outskirts of Unguwan Bawa, Orange Market, Mararaba in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The baby was taken hostage when two unidentified men broke into the house on 29th March 2026, at about 0545 hours, and threatened the baby’s mother, Aisha Bada, a
with violence, and abducted the baby to an unknown destination.

Nasarawa police Command’s spokesman,
SP Ramhan Nansel said on Friday in a statement that two suspects have been taken into police custody in connection with the criminal act.

19-year-old weaning Aisha told police that her child was abducted while she was asleep, and her husband,
Abubakar Isah, a tricycle rider (Keke Napep) had travelled for business about five months.

She explained that two unidentified men broke into the house, threatened her with violence, and abducted the baby and fled to an unknown destination.

The police spokesman revealed that: “Upon receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Shetima Mohammed directed detectives of Mararaba ‘A’ Division to immediately visit the scene, and ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident”.

“Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives on 3rd April 2026 at about 0400 hours arrested two suspects: Furera Abdulrahman, 35 years, of Rugan Juli, and Sadiya Abdullahi, 39 years, of Unguwan Bako, Orange Market. The abducted baby boy was found in their possession and successfully rescued”, according to the police.

During interrogation, police said, “the suspects confessed to the crime and implicated an accomplice who is currently at large, to carry out the abduction. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect”.

The police also said, “the rescued baby was immediately taken to the Medical Centre, Mararaba, where he was examined by a medical doctor, certified to be in good health, and subsequently discharged. The child has since been reunited with his parents”.

The case, currently under investigation and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Lafia, for further discreet investigation upon completion of preliminary inquiries”, according to the police.

The police further reassured members of the public of its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property and urges citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
