Police probe fatal attack on Anambra church

Police authorities have ordered probe into the fatal attack on St Andrew’s Anglican church at Lili, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State by armed criminals on Sunday, leaving at least one worshiper dead.

Spokesman of the Nigeria Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga disclosed this on Monday in a statement, which confirmed one death and serious injury on a few others.

He revealed that the Commissioner of Police condemned the attack and commiserated witnesses family of the deceased.

“The CP notes that no community should be subjected to such brutality as the command will not allow criminals to instil fear or destabilise the peace we are working tirelessly to maintain”, he said.

TheNewspad reports that during his sermon in one of the church’s programmes, the Vicar of church, reportedly lamented bitterly about the five years of terror in the Community.

Prior to the attack, the sermon by the fierce Cleric who miraculously survived the attack, was relayed to the hoodlums who invaded the church, which was also set the Priest’s house on fire.

Earlier, a group of armed men had allegedly attacked the Afor Market junction at Nawfia in Njikoka Local Government, killing unidentified number of persons in sight.
