The Nigeria Police Force has invited a former Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG), Mr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo, for questioning over an ongoing investigation linked to a leaked phone conversation alleging a plot to assassinate the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
In a letter dated January 9, 2025, issued by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Police Intelligence Department, Guzape District, Abuja, Danagogo was requested to appear in person to “shed light on some information” relevant to the investigation.
The invitation, signed on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Response Team, directed Danagogo to report at the IRT Complex, Old Abattoir, close to Guzape Junction, Abuja, on Thursday, January 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. prompt.
According to the letter, Danagogo is to report to CSP Hillary Ugwuanyi, a member of the IRT, upon arrival. The police also provided a contact phone number for coordination.
The document further stated that the invitation is part of a fact-finding exercise being conducted in the interest of justice and fairness, in line with the provisions of Section 53(2)(c) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.
Although the letter did not explicitly state the details of the allegation, the invitation follows circulation of a leaked phone conversation allegedly implicating political actors in a plot to harm the former Rivers State governor and current FCT minister, Nyesom Wike.
Danagogo, who served as SSG under the current Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has yet to publicly respond to the police invitation as at press time and efforts to obtain comments from the Rivers State Government and the police authorities were also unsuccessful.
