Police evacuate bodies of worshippers in Katsina mosque attack

Men of homicide Unit of the Nigeria police Command in Katsina State have evacuated 13 bodies of Katsina mosque attack, which was said to be a retaliatory move.

The mosque in Unguwan Mantau Community, Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State came under attack during the early morning (Fajr) prayers when bandits armed with dangerous weapons stormed a mosque and opened fire on the worshippers.

Nasir Muazu, the Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs who confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday August 19, stated that “Muslims members of the Community were praying in the mosque”, when the criminal elements unleashed terror on them.

Outraged by the attack, the people of Unguawan, Mantu decided to lay ambush against the bandits and killed many of them, according to News Agency of Nigeria.

To forestall break down of law and order after the incident, government official said, “security agencies have been deployed to the area to restore nomarcy.

“Air component Commander of the forward operating base of the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria police have already been deployed to clear those bandits”, he said in a statement, which extends its condolence to the families affected.
