Police dismiss officer for allegedly stealing goat

Date:

The Nigeria police authorities have dismissed Police Constable Usman Mohammed, who was serving in the Mutum Biyu Division of the Taraba State Command, after he was found guilty of stealing a goat.

Citing an official signal from the Commissioner of Police, DFA Jalingo, to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Mutum Biyu, Constable Mohammed’s dismissal followed proper disciplinary procedures and was approved under the Police Act and Regulation 370, Cap 389 of the 2010 Laws of the Federation, as amended.

The offence, according to the police signal, falls under Paragraph ‘E’ of the First Schedule of the Police Act, which lists serious misconducts that can lead to immediate termination.

The development has racked up several netizens engagement on social media. While some commend the police for the swift action, others believe that the punishment should cut across all cadres of the Force.
