Police operatives have apprehended the spiritual leader of a 7-man armed robbery gang, Martin Akunu ‘m’ 37-year-old in Udei town Benue State.
The Benue State Police Command’s Public Relations officer, SP. Anene Sewuese disclosed this on Monday in a statement.
Akunu lid was blown, following the the arrest of 22-year-old Tersoo Dabo, robbery suspect by the police in Udei town over robbery incidents on Makurdi -Lafia road July 18th 2024 at about 1130hrs.
The statement recalled that “On 18/7/2024 at about 1130hrs one Tersoo Dabo ‘m’ 22yrs of Udei was trailed and arrested in connection with robberies along Makurdi -Lafia road.
“Martin Akunu ‘m’ 37yrs of Udei town, the spiritual leader of the said gang who fortifies them before going out for operations”, according to SP Anene.
The statement said the suspect, Dabo, confessed to be part of a 7 man gang operating on the highway.
The police spokesman revealed that a locally made double barrel gun, 162 balls suspected to be local ammunition and gun Powder were found in Dabo’s possession .
Meanwhile, men of Benue State Police Command arrested a suspected kidnapper, one Usman Hardo ‘m’ of Keana late July 28th 2024 during police patrol team at Daudu.
The statement said Keana, has been on the wanted list for kidnapping and Cattle rustling in Nasarawa State and Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
Keana, will have a date in Court when investigation have been concluded by the police, according SP. Sewuese.
