A former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Yekini Adeojo, is dead.
Details about the demise of the active political player, strategist and devout Muslim who passed on Friday night, is sketchy.
Adeojo who hails from Oyo State, played a fundamental role in fostering unity in Nigeria’s main opposition party.
The family of the departed politician is yet to make a formal announcement of his demise.
But in a tribute published on Facebook, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, said, “I’ve just been informed of the passing of Alhaji Yekini Adeojo, a former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party”.
He described Adeojo as an “astute industrialist, politician, and statesman who has contributed immensely to the economy of Oyo State and Nigeria”.
The former Vice President of Nigeria, said, “He (Adeojo) was an active political player, strategist, devout Muslim, and devoted family man.
“His passion for the development of the ancient city of Ibadan was resolute”, Atiku said while praying for the repose of his soul and comfort his family and associates.
